She curated the first and second digital art auctions at Phillips Auction House in New York and London. She also founded the exhibition program at 319 Scholes and served as the Curatorial Fellow at Eyebeam, the leading art and technology center in the United States. She currently directs the online commissioning program at NewHive. For this issue, she interviews digital sensations Petra Cortright, Sara Ludy and Addie Wagenknecht. His new book about artists' studio fires, "On Fire," was published this month by Paper Monument. For this issue's cover story, Griffin interviews artist James Turrell, whose earliest sculptures were made of fire before he switched to the (much safer) medium of light. In this issue, she writes about Mike Krieger, co-founder of Instagram, and Catherine Marcus Rose and Jennifer Eagle, co-chairs of the Nasher Sculpture Prize. She is chair of the Graduate Program in Curatorial Practice at California College of the Arts, as well as director of the Steven Leiber Trust. Previously, Markopoulos worked in London as an exhibition organizer at the Hayward and Serpentine Galleries. For her first assignment for Cultured, Markopoulos covered Jessica Silverman Gallery and kurimanzutto's joint exhibition, "from here to there."
