First UP PULLING A PUMP T he Persia Utility District in Rogersville, Tennessee, has four high-production water wells on the premises Joe Samples Well Drilling Inc. installed in the late 1990s. This water well being serviced January 27 by Joe Samples Well Drilling is pro- ducing about 200 gpm and runs contin- uously to an abandoned quarry for storage, then pumped to treatment before sent out the lines to customers. It's a 6-inch Franklin Pump Systems 200 gpm, 30 hp submersible on a 30 hp, 460v three-phase Franklin Electric Sand Fighter motor. The submersible is installed to a depth of 504 feet on 3- inch galvanized steel pipe with a pitless adapter well head configuration. Joe Samples Well Drilling is replacing the pump and motor due to a decreasing pumping rate and high number of run hours. "This utility prides itself on replac- ing necessary components before com- plete failure," says Brian Lane, CPI, president of Joe Samples Well Drilling.
