46 tobaccoasia MANUFACTURING NEWS 制造新闻 TANNPAPIER, a Leading Supplier of Tipping Paper TANNPAPIER, a member of TRIERENBERG HOLDING GmbH, an Austrian based company is a world leader in developing, producing, converting and distributing Tipping Paper for the cigarette industry for more than 50 years. The global network and close cooperation of the nine affiliates with about 1,200 employees ensures worldwide service and support also on site. Globally TANNPAPIER offers unique flexibility, reliability, and supply security combined with the highest quality and service standards. To fulfil customers' needs TANNPAPIER is expanding its Austrian facility with 2 state-of-art color printing machines, with up to 8 printing decks. These investments are part of the company's continuous improvement philosophy, and underpin TANNPA- PIER's commitment to reliability, also in terms of delivery time. For cigarette manufacturers, creative product design is more important than ever. With increased regulation reducing the available communication space on the pack, brand communication is moving to the inside of the pack, or the cigarette itself. For marketers it is critical to have a flexible partner with great know-how, like TANNPAPIER, who understands the dynamic environment and offers innovative solutions. Tipping paper design becomes increasingly important. TANN offers not only the high- est quality in terms of tolerances, colour proofness and runnability, but also many innova- tions around haptic and organoleptic consumer experiences. Tear tapes, the new printed Innerliner, and clear closure labels are complementary innovative product solutions supporting the brand communication: The "Infoliner" The Infoliner reflects the marketer's need to move brand communication to the inside of the pack. TANNPAPIER expanded into this product category, now offering complex designs, texture, hotfoil and other special effects. The Infoliner offers a wealth of advantages, such as providing additional space for branding, increasing the impact of promotion and limited edition packs, supporting communication during brand migrations, virtually unlimited design possibilities, new and pleasant tactility of paper, retention of cigarette freshness, and runnability at standard speeds. Moreover, the pure paper employed reduces the CO2 footprint of the packaging, is of biodegradable origin and reduces aluminium import tax. Clear Closure Labels Closure labels are primarily used for cigarette soft packs. They usually consist of printed or metallic paper, and they are used to cleanly close or seal the top flaps of the innerliner of a soft pack, before the pack is wrapped in plastic film. Some countries use specially printed sealing labels to indicate the tax paid on tobacco products. The regula- tory changes oblige cigarette manufac- turers to enlarge the warnings on cigarette packs and often to move them to the top section of the pack. Clear closure labels ensure compliance with the regulations forbidding the coverage of the pack, whilst fulfilling technical packaging requirements. Two versions of these banderols are now available at TANNPAPIER: The self-adhesive version where a semi-solid adhesive is applied onto the BOPP (biaxial-orientat- ed polypropylene) base material during the rotogravure printing process and the version where the cigarette manufacturer takes care for the on-line adhesion process, as is the case with the traditional paper brands. The second version is based on clear cellulose film and represents an environmentally- friendly alternative to plastic banderols, and is also less error-prone due to the obsolete gluing lines.
