Historical Society 10 keymilwaukee.com The special genetics exhibit at Discovery World opens with a look at differ- ent Milwaukeeans. Entering Genome: Unlocking Life's Code, it is impossible to miss a tall wall of facial photographs. It illustrates how researchers are able to determine the characteristics of hundreds of Milwaukee children and adults—just by analyzing their facial features. Public Relations Manag- er Paul Fladten calls it the "The Trait Wall." But the Trait Wall is only the beginning. Visitors can learn about DNA as the blueprint of their bodies, how genome sequencing is revolutionizing medicine and even test to see what foods they may or may not like. Created by the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the National Human Genome Research Institute, the traveling exhibit is designed for all ages and presented here in partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin. Discovery World is located at 500 N. Harbor Dr. Hours are 9am-4pm Tues.-Fri., 10am-5pm Sat. & Sun., closed Mon. For more information, visit discoveryworld.org.
