However, the company raised the new batch to 70 proof (35% ABV). Apple Pie moonshine is a traditional moon- shine fl avor. At 40 proof, it has been a staple for Ole Smoky and the best-selling product for the business, the company reports. Be- cause of its success, Ole Smoky strategically decided to raise the proof. While the fl avor has been slightly altered, the sweet taste of Apple Pie still remains, the company says. $19.99 per 750-ml. bottle www.olesmoky.com YELLOW ROSE WHISKEYS Named after the Yellow Rose of Texas — a traditional song of the state that dates back to General Sam Houston's 1836 victory at the battle of San Jacinto — Yellow Rose Distill- ing was founded in 2010. It is Houston's fi rst legal whiskey distillery. Their products include: Outlaw Bourbon Whiskey, which owes its sweet, full-fl avored fi nish to a recipe that utilizes 100% corn and a traditional pot still. 46% ABV. Straight Rye Whiskey: Made from a 95% rye mash bill custom sourced for Yellow Rose, distilled by a handful of distilleries throughout Texas, aged at least four years, blended and bottled in Houston. Blended Whiskey: Partially distilled onsite and partially distilled by partner distilleries, with a higher bourbon content than most Canadian blends, 46% ABV. $54.99, $37.99, and $29.99 per 750-ml. bottle, respectively www.yellowrosedistilling.com DR. H. THANISCH ERBEN MÜLLER-BURGGRAEF RIESLINGS This German estate in Mosel Valley has two bottles of 2014 Riesling on American shelves: Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Kabinett 2014 comes from the Doctor Vineyard, considered the estate's best site. The wine has fl avors of ripe red and yellow fruits, with an underlying minerality common of the Mosel area. 8% ABV. The Reisling 2014 comes from the middle Mosel area, from grapes picked early at Kabinett-level ripeness. Flavors include peaches, pear cum- quat, watermelon, currant grapefruit, with hints of raspberry and gooseberry. It is blended with the above wine to increase quality. 10.8% ABV. $22 and $14 per 750-ml. bottle, respectively DAUFRESNE BRUT CIDRE AND PERRY Located in the lower part of Normandy, France, is the cidery Daufresne. This orchard has produced two bottles now available in the American market. Daufresne Brut Cidre tastes of ripe apples with spice and sweetness, the company says, with a balance between sugar and acid. It is on the dry side, and is 5% ABV. Daufresne Poiré (Perry) Cidre is 4% ABV and made from small pears. It is gritty, tannic and acidic, the company says, with rounder tan- nins than apple cidres. Flavors include pear with notes of melon and citrus, sweetness balanced by acidity. $10 and $12 per 750-ml. bottle, respectively ZONIN 1821 DRESS CODE COLLECTION This new line is "designed to communicate different messages and moods inspired by the grape varietals that characterize the product," the company says. While the classic Prosecco is made with 100% Glera grapes, each of these three new expressions are blended with a different cuvée. Zonin Prosecco White Edition: Glera & Pinot Bi- anco cuvée. A sparkling wine with aromatic notes of Glera mingled with fl oral and fresh notes of Pinot Bianco. Zonin Prosecco Grey Edition: Glera & Pinot Grigio cuvée. Notes of Glera marry with fruity notes of Pinot Grigio. Zonin Prosecco Black Edition: Glera & Pinot Noir cuvée. Notes of Glera are accented by the elegance of Pinot Noir.
