Certification exams administered by the National Ground Water Association in April, with 22 of those passing. Also administered were 57 licensing exams, with 27 passing. Newly NGWA-certified individuals in April, including two Certified Pump Installers and one Certified Well Driller. New members NGWA registered in April. The total consisted of 97 scientists and engineers, 42 contractors, 14 students, 11 government/academic professionals, 6 associates, 4 manufacturers, and 3 manufacturer representatives. Eligible individuals who wish to earn the CSP designation will be required to take an exam on pumps or one on drilling. However, they can extend their designation to a CSP-II by passing both the drilling and pump installation exams. Exam appointments may be scheduled through NGWA's third-party testing facility, PSI LaserGrade, by calling (800) 211-2754 or (360) 896-9111 outside the United States. Videos on Water Well Stewardship Made with Help from NGWA Past President Six video segments on different aspects of water well stewardship were shot in April by NGWA. These educational segments will be aired on the rural programming network RFD-TV from late June until mid- September. In addition to their inherent value in educating well owners, the segments—in conjunction with commercials and lead-ins from the hosts of the network's daily program, Market Day—will promote well owner educational tools being developed by NGWA and other partners in a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant. The videos were shot by NGWA Director of General Public Awareness Cliff Treyens with the assistance of former NGWA President Loyd Watson, MGWC. They were shot in Loyd's service area outside Nashville, Tennessee. Loyd's wife, JoLinda, did a cameo appearance as a well owner during the videotaping. $4000 Awarded to Four Student Presenters at Groundwater Summit Four students each received a $1000 Farvolden Award from the National Ground Water Research and Educational Foundation for paper or poster presentations they made at the 2016 NGWA Groundwater Summit, April 24-27 in Denver, Colorado. Given in honor of the late Dr. Robert N. Farvolden, for- mer science counsel for NGWA, the awards are made based on the quality of the presentation; content including contri- bution to groundwater science, engineering, management, or policy; and demonstrated insight on the chosen topic.
