TAC Energy, a division of The Arnold Companies has acquired the wholesale unbranded business assets of Mutual Oil Co. Inc. effective June 1, 2016. Terms of the sale between the privately held companies are not being disclosed. TAC Energy will maintain all key sales and customer service associates from Mutual, who will temporarily operate from their current offices outside Boston. Plans are currently underway to relo- cate to new office space in the area within the next several months. TAC Chairman and CEO, Greg Arnold, stated "The Mutual Oil acquisition is another facet of our overall growth strategy and estab- lishes a strong base of business in New England." Last February, TAC Energy opened a regional sales office in the Northeast, headed by industry veteran Christine McHale--who will focus on growing the mid-Atlantic region for TAC Energy. According to Steve Shaer, executive vice president of Mutual Oil Co. Inc., "Our primary concern entering into this agreement was to make sure our customers were going to be taken care of by a like-minded supplier, who would by and large maintain the day to day interaction with the people they are used to working with. We wanted an organization that had the resources and a strong supply network." He continued, "We are confident TAC Energy is the right company to serve our customers in this ever-increasing competitive environment." ¦ API RELEASES NEW DONUT SYMBOL TO DIFFERENTIATE NEW DIESEL OIL The American Petroleum Institute will introduce a special Service Symbol Donut to help consumers identify the recently approved API FA-4 diesel engine oil, which is designed to protect the next generation of diesel engines. API approved two new diesel oil standards, FA-4 and CK-4, earlier this year. "API is introducing a diesel engine oil category for use in truck engines designed to meet 2017 model year on-highway greenhouse gas emission standards," said Kevin Ferrick, senior manager for engine oil licensing. "The FA-4 donut was developed to help truck owners who need FA-4 oils easily recognize the oil and distinguish it from CK-4 oils." The new donut, below right, features a shaded section to differenti- ate API FA-4 diesel oils from CK-4 oils. The API CK-4 Service Symbol Donut, below left, will look the same as the current CJ-4 Donut. Most truck manufacturers currently recommending API- licensed CJ-4 engine oils will likely recommend API CK-4 oils as soon as they are available to better protect today's diesel engines. API FA-4 oils have been designed to protect diesel engines that are expected to be introduced in 2017. The locations—Morrison's Marina (Beach Haven), MarineMax (Somers Point), Causeway Marina (Manahawkin), Drum Point (Brick), Southwicks (Beach Haven), and Chadwick Island Marina (Lavallette—will be serviced by Slipstream dis- tributor Taylor Oil Company, an early adopter of the brand. "Beyond the superior performance of the fuel itself, Slipstream is helping these marinas to differentiate themselves and build customer loyalty within their markets." Introduced to the market by AFS in 2014, Slipstream is com- mercially blended with fuel performance enhancers to ensure greater efficiency and improved engine performance. The pre- mium additive brand offers treatments for both gasoline and diesel engines, eliminating fuel deficiencies, optimizing perfor- mance, and reducing maintenance costs and downtime. "We feel that the marine fuel market warrants a new and improved product that utilizes today's most advanced chemical technology to meet the challenges associated with 21st-century gasoline and diesel," said AFS president Paul Nazzaro. "We cre- ated Slipstream to give boaters a better choice at the dock, to give marinas a higher performing fuel with which to distinguish themselves, and to raise the standard of quality, service, and inno- vation in the marine fuel industry as a whole."
