AFA Education Foundation sets scholarship goal Dear Industry Professionals: In 2003, the American Fence As- sociation (AFA) formed the AFA Edu- cation Foundation (AFAEF), a 501(c) (3) charitable organization, to bring educational opportunities into reach for people in the fence industry. Scholarships are given to high- ly deserving candidates enrolled in a college or trade school. These candidates are either em- ployed in the fence, deck, and railing industry or are the children of current industry employees – these are our in- dustry peers! In order to strenghten and expand the education fund, the Education Fund Committee has set a financial benchmark of $250,000. This benchmark is very signifi- cant, as it will open up the opportu- nity to apply for matching funds from corporate and private foundations, including the Gates Foundation and many others. This has been a goal of the AFA Education Foundation since its incep- tion, and is critical in allowing us to make a greater impact on the students and families in our industry. So far, the AFAEF has raised $135,718.96. This year we are issuing a spe- cial appeal to the industry to make an investment in the future of the indus- try and help us reach this worthwhile goal. All donations are 100% deduct- ible due to the separate 501 (c)(3) Cor- poration IRS designation. Please consider the AFA Edu- cation Foundation Scholarship fund when making your personal charitable contribution decisions this year.
