08 Back for the 36th year, Mil- waukee Irish Fest continues to bring a taste of Ireland to Milwaukee's Lakefront each August. With more than 100 acts on 17 stag- es, along with a variety of vendors, cultural exhibits, sporting events and more, anyone can be Irish for the weekend. Music This year's festival features the Celtic World Show- case, highlighting musicians from six of the Celtic nations. These acts share centu- ries-old musical traditions and the Celtic culture while continuing to shape modern global music. Some of the showcase artists include: Barrule, Calan, Celtic Fiddle Festival, De Barra and the Wrigley Sisters. Having visited everywhere from village pubs to interna- tional festivals, Milwaukee Irish Fest planners are excited to introduce 11 new artists to the festival, including: Donal Clancy, Drowsy Lads, JigJam, Runa and The Dardanelles. Arts, Crafts & Culture The Cultural Village at the festival oers history, genealogy and the largest gathering of Irish vendors in the world at the Moore Street Market.
