72 culturedmag.com L.A.-based painter Sarah Cain likes to stretch what her chosen medium can accomplish. On September 8, she unveils her latest breakthrough, a monumental floor painting that will consume 2,500 square feet of Galerie Lelong. Part of her solo show, "Dark Matter," the walkable work will create an immersive environment for visitors. This piece also gives a glimpse into Cain's future: "I can envision all sorts of new works based on the advances made here." GALERIELELONG.COM As Austria's largest contemporary art fair, ViennaContemporary acts as an important platform for regional and international cross-over. Held at the historic Marx Halle, the annual affair is helmed by artistic director Christina Steinbrecher-Pfandt, who has helped develop the fair's international presence. Opening on October 18, this year's fair will pay special attention to Nordic and Austrian artists. VIENNACONTEMPORARY.AT Los Angeles-based artist Toba Khedoori is getting a hometown retrospective this fall at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The eponymously titled exhibition, which opens September 25, will pair Khedoori's new large-scale oil paintings with her acclaimed drawings, giving perspective into her ongoing fascination with spatial relations.
