The American Fence Association (AFA) and the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metals Associ- ation (NOMMA) will co-locate the FENCETECH and METALfab shows in San Antonio, Texas, February 1–5, 2017. (The trade exhibition runs February 3–5.) FENCETECH is, of course, the annual convention and trade exhibi- tion of the AFA, while METALfab is sponsored by NOMMA. As previously announced, the site is the Henry B. González Convention Center in downtown San Antonio. FENCETECH is the largest gathering in the fence industry and METALfab is NOMMA's premier event for ornamental and miscellaneous metals professionals. San Antonio has been one of the most popular sites for the FENCETECH show over the years, but the city has not hosted the event for some time. Inside this issue you will find a wealth of information to help you plan your attendance at the show. San Antonio is a huge metropolis of some 1.3 million people, but down- town where the convention will be held is surprisingly compact. Much of the after-hours social activity will revolve around the fa- mous River Walk, but attendees are encouraged to explore further afield in the downtown area. An especially popular entertainment district is The Pearl, just northeast of the convention center, which is accessible by river taxi. The 135-year-old Pearl brewery has been converted to a cutting edge hotel, The Emma, and a variety of nice restaurants and bars have grown up around it. The World Fence News crew will see you there!
