CUSTOM RIGS 52 | Overdrive | December 2016 Ace and a queen K yle Cousins' "Ace in the Hole" wasn't always meant to be a show truck. The 2008 Kenworth W900 worked full time for Fleenor Bros. until early 2014 when Cousins and his family's business pulled the truck off the road. After placing third in their cat- egory at the Great American Truck- ing Show Pride & Polish in 2013, the crew dove in to the show truck build. "The project just kind of took on a life of its own," Cousins says. "Ev- eryone in the shop and around the company started giving their input on what we should do with it. It started as a simple paint job and took off to a level I never expected." The paint job is similar to its original look, save for the red stripes' marbled look. "It's a real attention- grabber," Cousins says. "It's not subtle, but you don't have to wear sunglasses to look at it. It's kind of old school with the retro Kenworth Apache scheme, but it has a little diff erent twist with the marble." The interior features the same marbled red on the steering wheel and dash, and the seats feature red caiman alligator inserts to keep up with the rest of the rig's color scheme. The truck's name, "Ace in the Hole," is a motto of sorts for the company, Cousins says. Fleenor dispatchers are willing to haul a load if no one else is available. Cousins, for example, is primarily a dispatcher but he drives occasionally. Liberty Fry, a finalist in this year's Overdrive's Most Beautiful contest, drives team for Fleenor Bros. with her husband, Steve. Fry went into trucking to join her husband after her children graduated from school. She visited Fleenor's W900 at the Pride & Polish competition at the 2016 Great American Trucking Show in Dallas.
