Welcome to Milwaukee County. I hope you and your families enjoy exploring our beautiful city, county and state this month. As Milwaukee County Executive I invite you to share in all the amazing things our county offers, from the Milwaukee Air and Water Show along Milwaukee's lakefront to the world-class Milwaukee Art Museum. Before summer comes to a close, be sure to visit our gorgeous Milwaukee County Parks. Milwaukee County offers countless festivals and sum- mer activities. This month catch our Milwaukee Brewers in action at Miller Park or visit African World Festival (Aug. 4-5), Milwaukee Irish Fest (Aug. 16-19), and Mexican Fiesta (Aug. 24-26), all at Henry W. Maier Festival Park. In addition, the Van's Warped Tour will be making a stop at the Marcus Amphitheater. August also features the 161st annual Wisconsin State Fair. You'll find music, our world famous cream puffs and much more at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Aug. 2-12. Please enjoy what Milwaukee County has to offer. You, your family and friends will be glad you did. Sincerely, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele Tom Barrett, Mayor Summer evenings are alive with music in Milwaukee. Enjoy Jazz in the Park at Cathedral Square, Live at the Lakefront at Discovery World and River Rhythms at Pere Marquette Park along the Milwaukee River. You can find music at county parks and neighborhood festivals that prove Milwaukee to be a wonderfully musical city. This year Milwaukee added a brand new public music venue, the BMO Harris Pavilion at Henry Maier Festival Park. It has 5,000 covered seats along with room for the same number of standees. Indoor venues like the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, the Milwaukee Theatre and the Basilica of St. Josephat also provide perfect settings for great music. In the past, Milwaukee had a number of talented may- ors who enjoyed public singing. They would enthusias- tically lead spirited renditions of anthems, polkas, and sing-alongs. Thank goodness, such mayoral perform- ances aren't demanded by the public. At a minimum, we invite everyone to hum along. Sincerely,
