The 2017 Summit takes place March 14-16 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Achenbach's keynote address will be March 14 at 8:45 a.m. and offer insights into the technology, energy and environmental issues that will shape the future of the work truck industry, based on his experience in truck mechatronics, a multidisciplinary field of engineering that combines systems, mechanical, electrical telecommunications, control and com- puter engineering. Achenbach is responsible for all product engineering and planning functions, including design, testing, styling, analy- sis and compliance. He earned a diploma in physics and a Ph.D. in nuclear physics at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. The Green Truck Summit is an alternative fuels and advanced technology conference held in conjunction with The Work Truck Show. STEFAN BROSICK JOINS WEIL-MCLAIN AS VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER Weil-McLain, a designer and manufacturer of hydronic comfort heating systems for residential, commercial and institutional buildings, named Stefan Brosick vice president and general manager, based at the company's Burr Ridge, Ill., location. The general manager position is new to Weil-McLain and was cre- ated to accelerate integration and execution of the company's sales, channel management, and product development strategies, the company said. "Stefan's experience in leading teams through change, dem- onstrated strategy implementation skills, and strong focus on the evolving needs of our customers will be invaluable as we accelerate our investment and growth in the high efficiency residential and commercial markets," said John Swann, president of Weil-McLain. Brosick joins Weil-McLain with leader- ship experience at companies such as Doosan Infracore and Ingersoll Rand. Most recently, Brosick was the vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas and Europe of Sullair, based in Illinois. During his career, Brosick and his family have embraced a number of career opportunities including assignments in Korea, Norway, Belgium and Ireland. Brosick has Bachelor's Degrees with concentrations in his- tory and biology from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky. He also has an International Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina. EPA AWARDS $2 MILLION TO CLEAN DIESEL PROJECTS IN CONNECTICUT, MASSACHUSETTS Three New England projects have been awarded nearly two mil- lion dollars under a competitive national grant competition to reduce diesel emissions. The grants, totaling $1,975,000, were made under the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA). The funding will assist the Connecticut Maritime Foundation, the Massachusetts Port Authority, and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in marine vessel repowering and vehicle replacement projects. Diesel engines contribute significantly to air pollution, especially in urban areas, EPA said. The fine particles in diesel exhaust pose serious health risks, including aggravated asthma and other respiratory symptoms. Children are especially vul- nerable to these effects. The Northeast has some of the highest asthma rates in the nation, including a childhood asthma rate above 10 percent in all six New England states, the EPA said.
