Magal Security Systems receives first serial order for RoboGuard system YEHUD, Israel – Magal Security Systems Ltd. announced in late March that it received its first serial order for its RoboGuard ® system. RoboGuard is a revolutionary agile scout robot, which runs along secured fences, ensuring perimeter integrity and capable of responding promptly to intrusion alerts, the com- pany said. It consists of an autonomous unit, traveling on a monorail and carrying several sensors. The robot has two modes of oper- ation: Routine patrol, in which it travels autono- mously at about 5 kilometers per hour, scanning and searching for perimeter anomalies such as fence holes or near- by suspected objects, and Response mode, in which the robot rushes promptly to hone in on a suspected in- trusion, acting as a first responder The robot, powered by a recharge- able battery, travels along a monorail, which is attached to the fence struc- ture. Several optional preset gear com- binations are supported in order to provide the optimum speed/slope per- formance. Wi-fi communication ensures a constant link between the robot and the control room, the manufacturer stated. This can be achieved through either RF antennas at the docking sta- tions or any other locations covering the rail. Each robot typically covers 1,000+ meters, mostly based on the required response time. RoboGuard is designed for sen- sitive unattended critical sites, where the site is remotely monitored yet prompt first response is highly recom- mended. As an affordable "unmanned first response vehicle" RoboGuard is use- ful as a complementary solution for perimeter applications such as air- ports, seaports, prisons, military and other sensitive sites. It can offload the burden of routine regular inspection of the perimeter. For more information, e-mail: el- ishevaa@magal-s3.com or visit the web site www.magal-s3.com.
