66 • OCTOBER 2012 • WORLD FENCE NEWS NAFCA set to kick off its first biennial Fence Expo The North American Fence Con- tracors Association (NAFCA) will host its first biennial fence industry trade show — Fence Expo 2012 — on Nov. 10, 2012 at The Classic Center in Athens, Ga. NAFCA was founded with the purpose of educating fence contractors in installation and business practice, and notes that the Expo is designed to bring together fence contractors and vendors for their mutual benefit and the integrity of the industry. The association will provide a VIP area at the show for exhibitors and de- cision makers to meet, and there will be opportunities for vendors to exhibit equipment outdoors. Exhibitors at the 2012 show will receive priority booth selection at future conferences. Exhibitors will be able to move into the exhibit hall on Friday, No- vember 9, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The exhibit hall will be open for business on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Move out will be on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Classic Center is located at 300 N. Thomas Street in Athens, Ga. You can learn more about the facility at www.classiccenter.com. Exhibitors are being sought for Fence Expo 2012, as well as compa- nies who wish to sponsor events, pro- motional items or activities at the show. Exhibit booth space is still avail- able, but is limited, so interested ven- dors should act quickly. NAFCA will also sponsor a golf tournament on Thursday, November 8 in conjunction with the Expo. It will tee off at noon on the Chancellors Course at The Georgia Club. The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $75 per player, and in- cludes green fees and cart. Another fun activity will be the NAFCAR (NAFCA Car) Race and and barbeque on Friday evening, No- vember 9, 2012. You can watch NAFCA members race down the parking deck ramp in non-powered, Soapbox Derby type cars built out of fence materials which they build themselves. Attendees must make their own room reservations, and NAFCA has suggested that a convenient hotel is the Holiday Inn Athens, 197 East Broad Street, Athens, GA 30601. Phone 800- 315-2621. The hotel is adjacent to the Uni- versity of Georgia campus, and offers Fence Expo attendees opportunities to enjoy the city and the night life. The Hotel is within walking distance to The Classic Center. If you have never been to Athens, you'll be pleasantly surprised. It has a vibrant, restored Victorian- era downtown which teems with night- clubs, trendy shops and distinctive restaurants. Athens is a unique blend of traditional heritage and southern culture in a lively college town setting. Rock music fans will recall that the bands R.E.M. and the B-52's orig- inated in Athens.
