4-dee extra-wide back saddle with batten seat With a comfortable, extra-wide back and a batten seat, this saddle from Weaver Leather is ideal for arborists who are in the saddle for long periods of time. Many new and improved features on this saddle include dees made from forged aluminum with a black anodized finish that's lighter weight than steel, fixed position angled side dee rings with a 2- bar design for easy access and snap in, and 3 additional dees on the back for ditty bags or first aid kits. The leg straps are now made from pre-cut, pre-punched and heat-sealed heavy-duty coated webbing to prevent fraying, while the saddle back features 2 rounded and rubber-covered nylon loops that will each hold up to 15 pounds of accessories. Available is small, medium, large and extra large. SMC Micro rack The new Micro Rack from Seattle Manufacturing Corporation (SMC) is the best choice for descending trees in the 125- to 300-foot range. Available from WesSpur Tree Equipment, the U-rack utilizes Hyper bars, which makes it easy to add friction or lock off the device. The rack dissipates heat excellently while still giving the needed amount of friction for long rappels. This rack is designed to run on ropes from 7 to 12.5mm and has a MBS range of 8kN to 22kN. New England Ropes' Escalator New England Ropes' Escalator is an innovation in accent lines that helps arborists to footlock like the pros. The ultra-low-stretch Escalator has a rugged polyester jacket with a triple fiber core that contains aramid, HMPE and polyolefin fibers. Escalator's construction helps arborists to climb both more effectively and more efficiently with much less effort. www.arborage.com Arbor Age / October 2012 13
