Custom Rigs December 2017 | Overdrive | 53 O wner-operator Jeff Bencic, who owns Bencic Auto Transport and is leased to Con- tinental Transport, made the most of a truck stop parking lot accident by giving his 2014 Peterbilt 388 car hauler a makeover. Around 6 a.m. on July 2, 2016, Bencic was awoken when his truck was hit by another driver. The crash did nearly $50,000 worth of exten- sive front end damage. The Murfreesboro, Tennessee- based driver already had been talk- ing with the body shop at Nashville Peterbilt about repainting the truck. When Bencic called them the day of the accident, they suggested he go ahead with the two-tone paint job while it was in the shop for repairs. "I had already talked to them about the cream with purple pearl I wanted, so we went ahead and did it," he says. Bencic kept the original purple color scheme but decided to have the cab roof, front fenders and drop skirts painted cream with purple pearl ac- cents that show up when the sun hits. He also had the truck's dash, Cottrell head rack and stainless-steel hubs on the steer axle painted to match the purple. Bencic also added a 20-inch American Eagle front bumper with a lift, a drop visor and 8-inch drop skirts with around 150 lights on each side. He added a chrome duck hood ornament because his children saw the duck in a store and liked it. Bencic plans to add around 1,000 lights to the truck and trailer, finish the underglow on the tractor and have a custom floor put in the cab.
