6 keymilwaukee.com UPERHEROES are the theme as Historic Cedarburg, just 20 minutes north of Milwaukee, celebrates the city's 44th Annual Winter Festival. Held Saturday, Feb. 17, and Sunday, Feb. 18, festivities take place 8am-10pm Saturday and 8am-4pm Sunday. Visitors can hop aboard the tractor drawn hay wagon to view the spectacular ice carving contest entries along Washington Avenue. 300-pound blocks of ice are transformed into glistening pieces of superhero-inspired frozen art. Outdoor fun includes camel rides, egg hunts, sledding, ice skating or watching an old-fashioned dog pull. Saturday at 9am, catch the Kickball Tournament and the Cedarburg Lions IceBerg Open. On Sunday, a dodgeball tournament at the Community Center, W63 N641 Washington Ave., features team competition and a brat grill. Two chili contests heat up the scene Saturday at the Cedarburg Community Center, W63 N641 Washington Ave. During the Individual Chili Competition, audience members can win free raffle prizes. Those attending can buy a restaurant chili sampler platter and vote for their favorite entries (11am-4pm). The Grand Parade at 1pm Saturday includes themed bed racing teams as well as other fun participants. The parade heads down Washington Avenue to Riveredge Drive for the start of the Verlo's Costumed Bed Racing Competition at 1:30pm. Next are the Barrel Races on Ice at 2pm. After the barrel races, the pond opens to family skating or skate at the ice rink in Cedar Creek Park, at Mill Street and Portland Avenue.
