April 2018 | Overdrive | 67 Fleet News By Dean SmallwooD NUSSBAUM, U.S. XPRESS, TRANSPORT AMERICA, SRT, CARGO, BTC HIKE PAY Hudson, Illinois-based NUSSBAUM TRANSPORTATION announced a driver pay increase with four compo- nents: a mileage rate increase of 2 cents, a door-to-door cal- culation method, reimbursed truck parking and higher bonus payouts. Chattanooga, Tennessee- based U.S. XPRESS launched its TeamMax Bonus incentive program that allows team drivers to earn bonuses of $50,000 with up to four weeks of paid vacation in a single year. Teams also get priority at the company's service cen- ters and for new trucks. Eagan, Minnesota- based TRANSPORT AMERICA increased driver pay to 54 cents per mile. Solo over-the- road drivers can earn up to $90,000 per year, and team over-the-road drivers can make up to $165,000 each. Student drivers also are eli- gible for the pay hike in addi- tion to tuition reimbursement. Texarkana, Arkansas-based SOUTHERN REFRIGERATED TRANSPORT announced a pay boost of up to 6 cents per mile for the company's mileage-based drivers. Claremont, North Carolina- based CARGO TRANSPORTERS announced a pay raise for all drivers. Those with one year or more of experience start at 46 cents per mile. New gradu- ates earn 25 cents during training, then shift to 44 cents; pay increases to 45 cents after six months, then to 46 cents after one year. Memphis, Tennessee-based BUILDERS TRANSPORTATION CO. raised starting pay for flatbed drivers with two years or more of experience to 55 cents per mile. The company's seniority program pays 60 cents to qualifying drivers. Top earners at Nussbaum Transportation earn up to 6 cents per mile on top of base pay.
