Custom Rigs 42 | Overdrive | May 2018 S hortly after Robert and Kathy Cass bought their 2006 Peterbilt 379 in 2015, the couple decided to make it into a part-time show truck. It wasn't their first choice. The Casses had agreed to buy a truck they'd been driving and renovating and were head- ing home to Missouri when the seller told them his brother-in-law was going to buy the truck. "We had that truck all fixed up," Robert says. "We took it from nothing like we have with this one." The experience "was tough in more ways than one — mentally, financially, everything." Once the couple found their current truck, Kathy came up with the "Sweet Satisfaction" moniker as a nod to landing the new rig after losing the other. The couple has re- painted the Pete from a darker granite red to a little brighter ruby. Robert says they have done a lot of the maintenance and other cosmetic work on the truck themselves, along with their son, Michael. The truck sports a 550- hp Cat with an 18-speed on a 280-inch wheelbase. It features 8-inch straight stacks, a 14-inch bowtie drop visor, a 22-inch box end bumper and plenty of chrome inside and out. The Casses have continued upgrading the truck with the help of their sponsors, Bells & Whistles Chrome Shop, Roll Cool Customs and D.A.K. Chrome. The year they bought the truck, they entered the TopGun Large Car Shootout truck show in Rantoul, Illinois, and brought home a second- place trophy. They then entered the truck in the Truckers Jamboree in Joplin, Missouri, where it took home a first place and a Best of Show. While the couple enjoys showing the truck, their true passion lies with the Special Olympics Convoy that accompanies the Jop- lin Jamboree. "Kathy started a raffle last year as a fund-raiser, and all the money we raise from that goes to the Special Olympics," Robert says. 'Sweet Satisfaction' Owner-operator couple gets second chance with '06 379 BY MATT COLE Robert and Kathy Cass own this 2006 Peterbilt 379, "Sweet Satisfaction." Based in Crocker, Missouri, and leased to Quality Carriers, they haul a dedicated load of liquid soap for Unilever out of Jefferson City, Missouri. The red dash, dotted with chrome gauges, matches the exterior. Robert and Kathy Cass and their son, Michael, have done most of the upgrades to the truck since the couple bought it. Kathy says Michael is just as much a part of the truck as she and Robert.
