Photo by Bobbi Petersen work With Me Cathy Dethmers Still rockin��� at the High Noon Saloon If you���re wondering what someone with a degree in cultural anthropology does for a living, ���rock club owner��� probably isn���t what comes to mind. But in a round-about way, this degree opened doors Cathy Dethmers never expected. ���[My degree] was challenging to make a career out of,��� she recalls. ���So I started bartending at O���Cayz Corral [when I was 21]. Then, circumstances aligned.��� It���s been nearly two decades since Dethmers began working behind the bar at the happening music haunt���since then she���s become one of the most in���uential people on the local music scene. Dethmers eventually took ownership of O���Cayz, and after it burned down, she launched the High Noon Saloon in 2004���another rock club with a western theme, but in a bigger and better space. Since then times have undoubtedly changed in live music���the abundance of videos and music online means fewer venture out to see unknown bands for the simple thrill of being at a live show. But Dethmers has found plenty of ways to keep the club bustling. From high-pro���le rock acts to kids shows, art fairs and even weddings, the High Noon���s offerings continue to expand. All under the watchful eye of Dethmers, whose personal life has also welcomed a new addition. Just under two years ago, Dethmers and her husband had a son.
