Chefs Corner Humble By Cathy Martin Photo by Bobbi Petersen Despite its name, Humble, a bright new caf off Regent Street, has a lot to boast about. The cozy pie shop with quirky dcor offers a unique twist on caf fare: Everything on the menufrom sweet to savoryis served in a akey, buttery crust. People are always so surprised when they come in, and thats delightful, says Jill Long, who co-owns the cafe with her sister, Shelly Cross. After migrating north and settling near Madison, the pair decided to merge their favorite childhood comfort food with avors loved by Wisconsin palates, Long explains with a lingering twang. With an eye on seasonal foods, the avors range from roasted grape and goat cheese (pictured) to sweet pies, both traditional and unique. And with grab-and-go Lollipies in avors like hazelnut fudge with pistachio sprinkles, their offerings make stopping in for lunch or satisfying a sweet tooth as easy as pie.
