EQUIPMENT FOCUS Tub and Horizontal Grinders Bandit Model 1680 "Son of a Beast" recycler/horizontal grinder The Model 1680 "Son of a Beast" recycler/horizontal grinder answers the call for companies and municipalities seeking a mobile, cost-effective machine to turn their waste wood into a valuable product. This compact unit is officially listed as a 16-inch-capacity machine, but it uses a 24-inch x 52-inch mill opening and a patented 26-tooth cuttermill to easily process large stumps, pallets, brush and bulky material. The Model 1680 can be outfitted as a towable or self-propelled track machine, and it's available with a variety of diesel or electric power options. Numerous screen and tooth configurations allow this versatile recycler to serve a wide range of customers, including small land clearing operations, municipalities, recycling yards, and tree services looking for an efficient way to reduce and dispose of brush, limbs, pallets, slab wood, bark, sawmill waste, logging slash, palms, construction waste, Christmas trees and more. Diamond Z DZH4000TKT Diamond Z provides recycling firms worldwide with horizontal track grinders, featuring a tri-axle transporter option to meet the increased mobility requirements of today's waste contracting firms. The DZH4000TKT is capable of processing in excess of 500 cubic yards of construction/green waste per hour. This midsize waste grinder with tri-axle transporter has a total transport weight of 98,000 pounds. The fuel-efficient Caterpillar C18 ACERT diesel is available in all Tier II thru Tier IV Interim and Final versions. The key benefit of utilizing a fluid coupler transmission drive unit produces a longterm service factor compared to competitive clutch options. The DZ4000TK features a feed opening (54 inch x 52 inch) and mill swing diameter (42 inch) that allow for oversize grinding requirements. The dual screen area is 3,800 square inches total, with screen change-out timeframes of 20 minutes or less. Morbark 6600 Wood Hog horizontal grinder The aggressive Morbark 6600 Wood Hog is geared toward processing clearing debris, yard waste, storm debris and other mixed woody feedstocks into saleable products. The 6600 has a 66-inch infeed opening for processing bulky material with ease. Complete with laser-cut, up-turn rotor, forged hammers, internal drive top feed wheel and the Morbark Integrated Control System to adjust feed rates while maximizing performance, the 6600 is a rugged, dependable machine. Include the popular track option with 330L or 330EL Caterpillar undercarriage for the flexibility to easily bring the machine to the material. Rayco RH1754 horizontal grinder Dispose of waste wood without breaking the bank. The Rayco RH1754 is the newest addition to Rayco Manufacturing's line of environmental equipment. It is designed to be both compact and affordable. Available as either towable or self propelled on a steel-tracked undercarriage, the RH1754 allows easy transportation from job to job, and can be maneuvered and operated on small jobsites, inaccessible to larger machines. This unit is highly productive and capable of grinding a wide variety of wood waste materials. Ideal for processing tree limbs and brush, sawmill waste, dimensional lumber scraps, pallets, and for re-grinding wood chips. It offers an economical solution for reducing wood waste, lowering dumping costs, and creating high-quality mulch. Vermeer HG4000 horizontal grinder The HG4000 horizontal grinder from Vermeer features a 445-hp. Tier 4i (Stage IIIB) Fiat Powertrain Technologies diesel engine. To help maximize power to the HG4000 processing functions, Vermeer uses an array of electrically powered, variable speed, and reversible fans for the cooling system. To reduce material slippage and maintain controlled entry into the mill, the crush boost button on the remote momentarily engages increased feed roller downforce on incoming material. The heart of the HG4000 is the Series II Duplex Drum, consisting of 9 hammers and 18 grinder tips. This patented design decreases daily maintenance time while increasing the life of major wear components. A range of screen configurations are compatible with the HG4000 to help meet a wide range of end-product needs. The HG4000 offers several design considerations; among them are flared infeed table sidewalls, a round-top infeed chain, 60-inchwide feed table and single-piece belly and discharge belt. www.arborage.com Arbor Age / May/June 2013 23
