Inside AED Sprinkle Some Lasting Magic on Your Company AED Leadership Academy makes the Disney Institute accessible to all members with an industry-customized program this fall. World-class leadership training is available at a premier event this November: AED Leadership Academy (formerly Young Executives Conference) proudly presents its first-ever event with the renowned Disney Institute, Nov. 20-22, in Orlando. Future leaders in the dealership, as well as all current dealer, manufacturing and service firm executives, are invited to experience a transformational professional development conference featuring one full day of D.I. training customized to the equipment distribution industry. Attendees will also hear a business leadership keynote that's been heard by hundreds of Rutgers graduates and students of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton engineering program. AED welcomes Modern Group Chairman Dave Griffith, an equipment industry veteran who now also serves as the executive director at Episcopal Community Services, a charitable organization serving Inner City Philadelphia. Griffith is a highly sought public speaker who will share a compelling presentation about setting priorities and executing them. Send successors and key management to this memorable skills-building and networking foundational event. Lessons and relationships forged are guaranteed to help shape the mindset of the next generation leader. A package fee of $1,795 includes two nights stay at the Boardwalk Inn, a 41/2-star Disney hotel, two open-bar receptions, all meals Thursday through Friday morning, and transportation to and from the hotel. Space is limited – please register early at aed-leadership.com. The Whole Truth and Nothing But the Truth at Forum Mainstream headlines and newscasts, stock reports, and even manufacturer forecasts and bulletins don't provide dealer management with the full picture needed for 2014 planning – especially before 2014 actually arrives. And, as good as they are for their own purposes, even these resources won't provide the policy and regulatory specifics that any equipment business entrepreneur would want to be warned about. Dealers who recognize that more is better turn to the AED/Infor Executive Forum, the single most comprehensive and condensed go-to source for factual and advisory discussions about dealer financials, relevant regulatory updates, and economic/ market forecasting. For those who have not attended previously, or lately: You will enjoy a day-and-a-half fast-paced program with numerous experts discussing macro-level industry issues. Dialoguing with speakers and networking with fellow executives are the hallmarks of Forum, which takes place next month, Sept. 12-13, at the Hilton Rosemont, about five minutes from O'Hare Airport. The $895 registration fee covers program costs, two open-bar receptions, two continental breakfasts, and plated lunch on Thursday. New to Forum's stage this year: Jim Huntzinger, executive vice president and chief investment officer, BOK Financial, presents the kickoff keynote – an economic analysis and forecast for 2014. Bryance Metheny, a partner with Burr Forman LLP, represents employers and management in all aspects of Labor & Employment law. At Forum, he will explain a new and real threat to dealerships: OSHA's heavy emphasis on whistleblowers and what dealers must know to avoid litigation. Steve Cochran, syndicated radio personality at Chicago's famous WGN as well as a conservative talk show host on Chicago's AM 560, gives a luncheon keynote loaded with political insight plus a twist of humor – this guy has opened for Jerry Seinfeld, so prepare to laugh a little. Paul Michael Violis, CEO of Risk Control Strategies presents a highenergy and high-value discussion on what executives need to see, understand and guard against to protect their businesses and families. Kim Phelan, CED editor and AED director of programs, will emcee this year's Forum. Send her your questions in advance – kphelan@aednet.org. Please get more details and register at aednet.org/forum. 8 | www.cedmag.com | Construction Equipment Distribution | August 2013 8_inside AED_KP.indd 8 7/25/13 3:02 PM
