PRODUCT SHOWCASE Not all manufacturers offer exhaust systems for all makes, models or fuel types. One company may specialize in diesel exhaust systems, another in gasoline-powered exhaust systems. Make it a point to visit company websites to see product availability or talk with your local performance shop/ installer to find out what will work on your pickup. Keep in mind that not all systems will be legal in all areas, due to federal and regional emissions rules. This is especially true in California, where anything that affects emissions must carry a CARB (California Air Resources Board) certificate to be street legal. A little legwork up front, however, can result in a work pickup that not only sounds great, but also delivers more power and enhanced fuel economy. And what business owner doesn't like that? Magnaflow The diesel pickup exhaust market has exploded in the last few years and MagnaFlow has steeped up with product lines for both DPF and Non-DPF pickups. Two examples: The Pro Aluminized Diesel line is for the contractor on a budget, using aluminized-steel exhaust and muffler with a limited one-year warranty. The Performance DPF Series is the premium stainless-steel version with polished muffler and covered by a lifetime warranty. Both systems performance gains in horsepower and torque. www.magnaflow.com; (800) 824-8664 BD Diesel X-Hale Dodge, Ford and GM diesel pickups can gain more power and better mpgs with BD stainless steel X-Hale exhaust systems designed for 2007-older models. Available in single- and dual-outlet configurations, these exhaust systems are designed for easy, bolt-in swap out and feature 4-inch seamless, mandrel-bent tubing, a 6-inch, polished stainless steel muffler and polished stainlesssteel tip(s). dieselperformance.com; (800) 887-5030 EXHAUST SYSTEMS relatively easy (it can be done in less than an hour on most gaspowered pickups), this simple modification works because most exhaust systems are restrictive at the back end, which makes the engine work harder. Generally, the cat-back system consists of the rear exhaust pipe from the catalytic converter, the muffler, resonator and sometimes the mid-pipe, X-pipe or Y-pipe. Aftermarket exhaust systems are designed to be less constrictive than the stock exhaust. Since the engine is "breathing" more easily with the cat-back installed, it doesn't take as much ATS Diesel Ford 6.0L ATS Diesel offers numerous exhaust kits for Dodge, Ford, and GM diesel-powered trucks that are pre-DPF. ATS guarantees their exhaust system upgrades lower backpressure and exhaust gas temperatures, improving power and fuel economy. The Single cat-back exhaust system shown here fits 2003 and up Ford 6.0L Powerstrokes. atsdiesel.com or (866) 209-3695 ANSA Silverline ANSA Automotive offers both single and dualexhaust systems for pre-DPF diesel pickups. Silverline direct-fit 5-inch stainless steel exhaust systems with the Silverline Truck muffler reduce EGTs and improve gas mileage, while independent dyno tests confirm performance improvements by as much as 13 horsepower and 23 foot-pounds of torque.
