Available in load range C through E. www.toyotires.com; (800) 678-3250 Hankook iPike RW11 When it comes to snow traction, the Hankook I*Pike RW 11 winter tires for pickups are an exceptional performer. They feature a new silica tread compound to give outstanding performance in cold, icy and snowy winter conditions. The distinctive "V"-shaped tread design improves grip, water movement, and mud cleanout while reducing road noise. The I*Pikes are pinned for studs which are arranged in six distinct orbits on the tire to double the bite on ice. Snow is the specialty. www.hankooktiresusa.com BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo The Dueler A/T REVO 2 is Bridgestone's premier on-/off-road all-terrain light truck tire that provides excellent yearround traction in dry, wet and wintry conditions. Open shoulders increase traction on loose surfaces and help evacuate water to improve wet traction. Independent interlocking center and intermediate blocks aid water evacuation in the rain with higher tread stiffness for better handling when it's dry. Excellent all-season all-terrain. www.bridgestonetire.com BFGoodrich's all-terrain Rugged Terrain T/A is one of the new "hybrids" that has aggressive off-road looks combined with low rolling resistance, reduced noise and enhanced off-road traction. The tire is offered in 36 sizes ranging from 15 to 20 inches in diameter, including LRE-rated sizes that have higher load-carrying capacity. Excellent for gravel, sand and light mud. www.bfgoodrichtires.com longer tread wear. There are even versions designed with "D" and "E" load range to maximize those towing/hauling jobs. Mud, or traction tires, work best when the terrain is at its worst, and they can perform well in deep, wet snow or soft sand. Like their A/T counterparts, today's mud tires are more than capable of towing the biggest loads, and through computer engineering the highway drone TIRES The Wrangler DuraTrac was designed for versatility with a priority given to on-road performance with a nod to dirt, gravel and mud capabilities. TractiveGroove Technology offers enhanced traction in deep mud and snow while the self-cleaning shoulder blocks help provide enhanced traction in soft dirt, gravel, and light mud. Pinned for studs for enhanced traction in snow driving conditions. www.goodyear.com of old is getting quieter with every evolution. However, tread wear still makes them short-lived compared to street and A/T tires. Those are the very reasons choosing the right tire for pickups isn't a "one-tire-fits-all" scenario; tire selection should depend on where, when and how each truck is being used. When it's time to tire-up, take a close look at which tread design makes the most sense for the en- vironment that vehicle is going to be at its most vulnerable, how often those conditions exist, and choose the tire that provides the best traction. As for tire wear on pickups used in the construction and contracting trades, variables in road surfaces, weather conditions, loads, and driving habits all influence tire wear. So does tire inflation pressures. Regardless of the tires chosen, you can maximize tread life by simple preventive maintenance: Check tire pressures monthly and rotate them at every other oil change. These two simple tasks can add thousands of miles to a tire's tread life. When you are tire shopping, keep these items in mind as well: • The more aggressive the tread pattern, the noisier the tire. • "All-terrain" tires are an excellent upgrade from street propickupmag.com PROPICKUP 99 ProPickup_2013BB_Tires.indd 99 8/6/13 10:29 AM
