marketplace | continued COST-EFFECTIVE CHOICE Chinese equipment manufacturer SDLG has launched North American operations with two new wheel loaders – the first of the company's product line to be offered in North America. The Volvo subidiary's 2.4-cubic-yard LG938L and 4.0-cubic-yard LG959 models offer reliable performance in a cost-effective mid-size wheel loader. The 23,150-pound LG938L, designed for multiple loadand-carry applications, handles up to 6,000 pounds of material and delivers a max breakout force of 16,410 foot-pounds with a static tipping load of 14,860 pounds. An optional long boom increases breakout force to 15,290 foot-pounds with a 13,500-pound full-turn tipping load. A Tier 4 Interim Deutz turbocharged water-cooled engine delivers 160 gross and 142 net horsepower. The LG938L has dry disc brakes and 17.5-inch bias ply tires, with radial tires offered as an option. The 38,250-pound LG959 handles 10,000 pounds of material and has a 34,170-pound max breakout force with a static tipping load of 22,490 foot-pounds. The optional long boom increases the loader's breakout force to 32,820 foot pounds with a 20,240-pound rated full-turn tipping load. The LG959 has a Tier 3 Deutz water-cooled engine that delivers 224 gross and 194 net horsepower, and is equipped with 23.5-inch bias-ply tires and wet disc brakes. Radial tires are offered as an option. Both loaders feature ROPS/FOPS cabs with floor-to-ceiling glass, joystick controls, air conditioning, radio with USB interface and more. RUGGED MODEM Quickly establish connectivity from a Topcon 3D system-equipped machine to the Sitelink 3D network with the new SL-100 modem, which supports GPRS, Edge and 3G cellular networks to provide web portal access. Sitelink3D.net is Topcon's web portal that provides real time jobsite management, data control and system support. The SL-100 modem connects to onboard Topcon 3D-MC systems through the MC-R3 GNSS receiver box. Installation can be made to existing machine control system, or new systems can be ordered with the modem pre-installed. All job data, production data, communication to and from the office, machines and surveyors are possible with Sitelink3D and the SL-100. HANDLE HEAVY-DUTY JOBS Kobelco Construction Machinery has launched one of the company's largest crawler excavator models, the 81,800-pound SK350LC. Designed for heavy-duty applications, the SK350 delivers a 50,582-pound digging force and a 24-foot 10-inch dig depth. The excavator offers a 1.57- to 2.09-cubic-yard bucket and has a 10.0-rpm swing speed, ensuring quick cycle times for improved efficiency. The SK350LC features a 270-horsepower, Tier 4 Hino engine, an improved hydraulic system and three engine modes – heavy, standard and economic. Each engine mode is selectable via a single button in the cab. Kobelco's independent travel feature enables the excavator to travel, dig and lift simultaneously with no loss of power. Composed of forged and cast steel materials, the SK350LC has reinforced high stress areas on the boom and arm, wide welds, and a standard rock guard. The undercarriage features heavy duty track guides and rollers, a thick base plate and grousers. Operator comfort and safety are addressed via a spacious, climate controlled cab with wide access doors, windows on all sides and a 7-way adjustable suspension seat. Easy-to-use, centralized controls and easy-to-read instrumentation enhance the operator experience, which onboard self-diagnostics including warning screens and audible alarms alert the operator to machine status. 18 September 2013 | EquipmentWorld.com EW0913_Marketplace.indd 18 8/27/13 3:26 PM
