Banff Convention PRESIDENT'S POST T he 2013 annual IDA convention and trade show in Banff Springs, Canada was a profitable event. Those of you who were unable to come, missed one of the best IDA gatherings ever. A tradition has developed in IDA; where member companies located near the convention city, donate their time, money and staff to greatly improve the experience for EVERYONE. Such was the case this year. On behalf of the IDA Board of Directors and the rest of the membership, I want to express our gratitude. And an added thanks to the many "behind the scenes" staff members; particularly Terry McKay and the rest of the Black Cat staff. From Pre Tour to final dance and all events in between, everything was great. A convention video will be showing soon on the IDA website: www.idaparts.org. And the photos in this magazine speak for themselves. Total Pre Tour attendees: 137 • Traveled 430 miles • Company tours with: Arrowwest Equipment Ltd., Black Cat Blades, CNC Industries, and Titan Supply Inc. • The group shared magnificent vistas, great food, industry networking and fun.  The first speaker for the seminars was Sam Richter, (www.samrichter.com). He 6 presented various ways to use the internet, in sales. In Sam's article on pages 64 and 65, he gives a wrap up of his presentation. The second speaker was Steve Miller (www.theadventure. com) who gave an interesting and humorous perspective on negotiations. Check out his website for more information. During the member meeting, a new slate of officers and three new members of the IDA Board were elected. IDA 2013-15 Officers: Pete Smith, President; Bob Creighton, Vice President; Paul Bonovich, Secretary-Treasurer and Roger Teran, Immediate Past President. Mr. Amr Elborai of Memo Corporation, Southlake, Texas and Ms. Patricia Pasemko of Titan Supply LP, Edmonton, are new representatives on the Board for the North American Region; and Mr. Barry Stoughton was re-elected to serve as the Associate Liaison Officer from North America. Congratulations to everyone! The IDA Board was presented with the results of the annual audit which showed IDA records in order and profitable for the fiscal year 2012-13. The Board also voted to change the dates of the 2015 Miami Convention . Please note the new dates: Wednesday, October 14 through Friday evening October 16.
