In Rani Leung and Kane Sivesind's wedding it greeted guests, was used on the décor and hung alongside other meaningful emblems—a phoenix to represent the bride and a dragon for the groom—as charms for a harmonious union. When planning their nuptials, Katie and Mehran incorporated several Persian tradi- tions including one they strongly connected to: the "Sofreh" or wedding table. Placed in a scenic locale the table was fi lled with signifi cance for the newlyweds: Golden eggs represented fertility, a mirror beckoned the pair to contemplate their future together, apples suggested a bountiful life and candles symbolized their love burning while a lantern off ered a decorative touch. e Symbols
