24 • MAY 2014 • WORLD FENCE NEWS Safetech's TriLatch three-step swimming pool gate latch introduced to North American market at FenceTech 2014 LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Safetech Hardware introduced its new TriLatch three-step swimming pool gate latch – which it bills as the "world's safest pool gate latch" – to the North American fence market dur- ing the recent FenceTech 2014 con- vention and trade exhibition in Las Vegas. "The expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas was well organized; attendance in terms of numbers and quality I'm sure all will agree was far better than the 2013 event in Houston," said Audrius Mac- ernis, Safetech's research and devel- opment manager. "We were especially pleased that visitors to our exhibit came from all over the U.S. as well as Australia, Canada and New Zealand – countries that represent our key marketing areas. "FenceTech 2014 provided an opportunity for our seven representatives to demonstrate the Tri- Latch unique three-step latching sys- tem that makes it virtually impossible for youngsters to gain access to unsu- pervised or closed swimming areas," he said. "We look forward to the 2015 expo in Orlando, Florida." With its unlatching mechanism activated from a regulation height no less than five feet off the ground, Tri- Latch-equipped pool gates require un- latching operations to be performed simultaneously: depressing a safety button in the middle of the elevated knob and at the same time raising the knob to disengage its magnetic latch. Only then can the gate be pulled open. "This safety procedure rules out kids using in- struments like a garden rake or plastic toy shovel to raise the latch knob then pull the gate open," Macernis ex- plained. "The patented self- latching system magnet en- gages every time the gate closes. A gate lock provides the third level of protection, making the Tri- Latch system in compli- ance with all international safety standards when properly installed." He noted that the mounting system permits easy alignment as well as vertical and horizontal ad- justment for a perfect fit using a power drill and screwdriver.
