APPS GOLF FOR BY STEVEN GIULIANO INSTRUCTION WRITER Everyday it seems new technology is being introduced, and there are new apps to choose from to help us with our game. It seems hard to keep up - I know it is for me! From GPS apps, to swing analysis apps, green reading apps to practice apps, apps for keeping stats and score, and apps to help us train. This will be the first of a series on the various iPhone apps that can be used to enhance your golfing experience. Let’s begin with a review of 3 the swing analysis apps that can be used as a swing analysis tool. iSwing Cost $2.99 Rating 5/10 The iSwing application is simple to use, and like the V1 Golf app I will discuss over the page, it allows you to e-mail your swing sequence so you can view a larger image on your computer. With the evolution of the iphone4 and better camera quality, the images are getting clearer to view which makes it easier to analyze. You can play the swing at 20, 60 or 100% speed, or you can step it through slowly. The downside to the iSwing is that you have to purchase tour player videos such as Adam Scott costing $4.99, and there is no option for side-by-side comparison. The application only gives you the option to draw lines and not circles or free hand like the other golf swing apps being reviewed. So the app is really a basic version for analyzing a golf swing and the price of $2.99 is justified as it lacks the options of V1 Golf and Tiger Woods app over the page. 36 GOLF INFUZION MAGAZINE MAY 2011
