The new drum design features double the knives found on a standard drum, delivering twice the cuts per rotation to produce wood chips as small as 3/16 inch. The micro chip drum can also be easily converted to a normal chipping confi guration for standard-sized chips, allowing users to conveniently produce several different chip sizes to serve multiple markets. The micro chip drum works in conjunction with Bandit's fl ow control option for the feed system, which fi ne-tunes the feed rate of the machine to achieve minimum chip size with maximum production and fuel effi ciency. A new chip breaker system further enhances chip quality, serving to screen and break down oversize material exiting the drum. The Bandit micro chip drum and breaker system allow chips to exit the machine at high velocities without the need for a separate blower or chip accelerator. The Bandit micro chip drum is an available option for the Model 2590, Model 3090 and Model 3590 whole tree chippers. The drum and accompanying systems can also be retrofi tted to existing Bandit whole tree chippers. Echo Bear Cat releases CH6720H chipper Crary Industries, Inc., manufacturer of Echo Bear Cat outdoor power equipment, released a new 6-inch- capacity chipper. The CH6720H commercial chipper is hydraulically fed and features a distinctive 6-inch- high by 13-inch-wide feed opening to accommodate larger brush and tree trimmings. It is powered by an electric-start, 720cc Subaru engine for reliable starting, more horsepower, reduced fuel consumption and long life. The CH6720H also features a cantilever-mounted rotor. This "propeller" style mounting design allows a user to chip wet or stringy wood types with less tendency of product twist or wrap. The chipper's hydraulic feed system is electronically controlled. If the rotor speed drops below optimal operational rpm range, the controller pauses the feed roller to allow the rotor to regain speed, then restarts feeding once optimal rotor rpm is achieved. This AutoFeed function allows for less fatigue on wear parts and maximizes effi ciency. The CH6720H's 165-pound rotor comes equipped with four reversible, heat-treated steel chipper blades. The 4-sided striking anvil is adjustable, allowing for the blades to maintain a sharper cutting edge longer and reduce repairs and blade replacement costs. Morbark Beever M15RX brush chipper Morbark, Inc. introduced a new brush chipper to its Beever line of Tree Care Products — the M15RX. With its high capacity and lighter-weight design, this compact chipper is the ideal unit for residential tree services, utility line clearing, vegetation management, maintenance contractors and municipalities. Like all Morbark models, this aggressive unit is engineered to give customers the power and features they need to maximize output and enhance profi tability. The Beever M15RX incorporates many of Morbark's most popular features, including: • A patented chambered air impeller system to increase chip-throwing velocity and reduce dust and material blowback out the infeed to pack more into the chip truck. • The powerful TorqMax top feed wheel compression system, which generates more than 3,400 lb./ft. of material pulling force. • 8.2-pound, 6-inch channel frame rails with 2-inch x 4-inch tubular steel frame with cross bracing for increased structural strength while maintaining low unit weight. Vermeer BC1000XL brush chipper now features patented EcoIdle technology Vermeer enhanced its brush chipper line with its newest offering of the BC1000XL model of brush chippers for tree care and land clearing contractors, municipalities and rental business owners. The diesel engine model now has a Tier 4 fi nal Deutz engine option with DVERT diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) technology, and features the industry-exclusive EcoIdle engine control system, which contributes to fuel effi ciency. When the EcoIdle engine control system is engaged, it automatically lowers engine speed to 1,400 rpm if no material has been chipped for either 60 seconds or fi ve minutes (depending on which setting the contractor chooses). This helps to consume less fuel if the feeding process has frequent interruptions. Noise and greenhouse emissions are also reduced. Another new feature is a multifunction display that allows functions such as engine rpm, battery voltage, fuel consumption and coolant temperatures to be consistently monitored. Fault codes and error messages alert the operator to a potential issue, so preventative measures can be taken to resolve the issue early. The Vermeer SmartFeed feed-sensing control system is designed to enhance productivity and reduce wear on feed system components. EQUIPMENT FOCUS EQUIPMENT FOCUS Chippers
