NORA Budget PROPOsed The proposed 2014 and 2015 biennial budget for the National Oilheat Research Alliance was discussed and approved by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee of the alliance on June 6, 2014. That budget is now being distrib- uted for public comment. At the con- clusion of the public comment period, the budget will be forwarded to the Department of Energy. The 2014 and 2015 budget responds to the recent changes in the NORA stat- ute and emphasizes research and devel- opment, and adds an energy efficiency component. Additionally, the budget con- tinues to emphasize the close working relationships with the state associations. A copy of the full budget can be down- loaded at the NORA website: http://nora- oilheat.org Those interested in commenting on this should forward comments to John Huber: jhuber@nora-oilheat.org. More information on NORA and its budgeted activities can be found on page 32. API CAlls fOR fAsteR APPROvAl Of lNg exPORts API welcomed the June 19 approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission of a facility to export liquefied natural gas from Cameron Parish, La., and urged Congress to accelerate the process for future applicants. "After years of delay, the Cameron Liquefaction Project is only the sec- ond LNG export facility to receive final FERC approval along with its conditional approval from the Department of Energy," said API Upstream Group Director Erik Milito. "This is great news for the workers of Louisiana and for the U.S. economy, but it shows how slowly the current pro- cess is working to unlock the economic opportunities created by the U.S. energy revolution. Members of both the House and Senate are working to expedite the process, and the sooner we act, the sooner that America can cut its trade debt, cre- ate thousands of new jobs and harness its international power as the world's top producer of natural gas." API is the only national trade associa- tion representing all facets of the oil and natural gas industry, which supports 9.8 million U.S. jobs and 8 percent of the U.S. economy. the 2 Nd OesP ROAd shOw RegIstRAtION Is NOw OPeN Registration for OESP's second roadshow is now open. The organization announced that based upon feedback from its exhibi- tors and attendees, changes are in the works for the second road show that will be held at the Wyndham Hotel, Gettysburg, Penn., September 21-23. What are the changes? Sunday will feature OESP's annual Dave Nelsen Scholarship Golf tourna- ment at the highly rated course The Links of Gettysburg. Also on tap is the Care to Ride Event—ride your motorcycle, bicy- cle, walk or run for a good cause. There will be a reception that evening to present awards for golf and Care to Ride. OESP's lesser priced registration fee includes classes all day Monday, and food and beverage including the VIP event on the display floor Monday night. Register by August 1 to be in the running for a two-night complimentary stay in a Wyndham Suite. There will be a mix of classes on Monday ranging from management to technical. Offered are many of the popular ones that were delivered in Connecticut, but new ones have been added as well. For example, Dave Yates, president of F.W. Behler, will give a presentation on con- verting hot water and/or steam systems to gently warmed water using modulating condensing boilers. When done properly, there is plenty of potential for energy con- servation and improved comfort. Tuesday will deviate from the first road show schedule. OESP will be offer- ing classes all day, including outdoors. There will be classes specially designed for technicians and all will be invited to explore the display area (indoors and out) from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. There is no cost to attend, so dealers are encouraged to "bring your team" on Tuesday so they can get a jump start on the winter season. Attendees will have a chance to see details and examples of several completed installations. In this class, Yates will share his secrets for building the ultimate in comfort-systems while divulging his meth- ods for presenting the sale to customers. Registration details are available at the OESP website: thinkoesp.org. Hotel room reservation can be made by either call- ing 717-339-0020 and referencing OESP Road Show or online. edwARd g.
