14 October 2014 Landscape and Irrigation www.landscapeirrigation.com As we approach GIE+EXPO 2014 and another slate of exciting new products to be introduced to the market, Landscape and Irrigation looks back at the standout new products of the past year.* In alphabetical order, they are as follows: Aero-Flex 360AF Glider The patent-pending Aero-Flex 360 AF Glider attaches below a trimmer's rotating head and allows the opera- tor to rest the trimmer on the ground, "lifting" the trimmer weight from the operator, thus reducing fatigue and effort while adding maneuvering control. As a result, the operator can freely mow and trim in all directions. The Aero-Flex 360AF Glider system is engineered with precision bearings, allowing the operator to glide the multi-use tool (without skidding) on the grass surface by isolating the rotating head from ground contact. Bearings within the design eliminate the undesirable loss of control, as well as head abrasion wear, from ground contact. The Aero-Flex 360AF Glider attachment makes an ideal trimming and mowing tool for areas where precision contour mowing is commercially required. Altoz xC z line oF preCision zero-turn mowers The 2014 Altoz XC Z line of zero-turn mowers are high-performance commercial machines, each built with a dedication to excellence and the promise of a precision cut. The Aero Deck High Output System, a hallmark of all Altoz mowers, creates the optimal vacuum for maximum grass lift, providing a uniform cut with reduced clumping and more efficient evacuation. The heavy-duty deck and spindles are powered by a clutch system that is rated for up to 250 ft-lbs of torque and available in 54-, 61- and 72-inch cutting widths. Durable front forks and fork castors feature precision-engineered tapered roller bearings. The SmarTrak Monitoring System informs op- erators with maintenance reminders and a digital RPM gauge. The TorqFlex Suspension absorbs bumps, while the Vibration Isolation System aides in comfort by isolating the rider from aggravating vibrations. The ergonomic seat brings everything together with fully adjustable suspension, lumbar support, tilt adjustment, and more. BAndit stump Gun The Stump Gun from Bandit is an innovative-yet-simple stump-grinding solution for landscapers, arborists, land-clearing professionals and dedicated stump-grinding crews who use a skid-steer loader. The Stump Gun attaches to skid-steer loaders in seconds and uses the skid-steer's hydraulic power to quickly grind stumps of virtually any size. Because it operates vertically, the Stump Gun is extremely quick and effective on large stumps, as well as small backyard stumps. Operators simply drive to the stump, raise the Stump Gun into posi- tion, and grind. Maintaining the Stump Gun is as easy as operating it. Keep the Stump Gun greased and monitor the teeth and end-cap for wear — that's it. The powerful hydraulic motor requires no routine maintenance. BoBCAt tier 4 5600 And 5610 toolCAt utility work mAChines Bobcat Company released the Tier 4-compliant 5600 and 5610 Toolcat utility work machines that incorporate a non-DPF (diesel particulate filter) engine solution. These machines also feature a traction control system designed to provide operators with better mobility when ground conditions are conducive to traction loss, or the machines' wheels encounter obstructions, such as rocks or debris. The Tier 4 Bobcat non-DPF solution was achieved by designing an ultra-low particulate combustion (ULPC) engine. The ULPC is accomplished through a specially designed engine combustion chamber that significantly reduces the amounts of particulate matter created during combustion. Therefore, Tier 4 emissions compliance can be achieved without using a DPF. Billy GoAt sC180h hydrostAtiC-drive sod Cutter Billy Goat Industries introduced the 18-inch SC180H hydrostatic-drive sod cutter, which takes sod cutting to the next level with its reliability, simplicity, speed and precise cut performance. The SC180H features easy-to-use "Set and Forget" blade depth adjustment where users can simply adjust depth to 2.5 inches with a single lever from the operator station. The unit comes standard with a lockable rear caster wheel for curved or straight cutting. And operators will appreciate the handle isolation mounts that absorb vibration and offer smooth, fatigue-free opera- tion. Unlike other machines, the SC180H has a variable-speed hydrostatic drive that not only allows operators to tailor cutting speed according to the ground condition, but also allows the unit to offer the fastest transport speed on the market at 3.5 mph. The intuitive drive controls are comfortably under-mounted and include reverse at your fingertips. The unit's paddle drive wheels clear mud and improve grip for added control. A heavy-duty front bumper bar, along with convenient tie-down points, provide for stable, safe strapping for transportation.
