However, legislation regarding this differs greatly between states and provinces. Distractions on the road are many – a good driver instinctively knows to avoid them. Distractions 5 Due to the amount of time we spend on the road, many of the environments we find ourselves in feel very familiar - freeways, roundabouts and inner city traffic, for instance. Many accidents happen on the roads that we know best – or think we know best. The key is to avoid complacency and to always maintain awareness. Over-familiarity 3 4 It's a maneuver you've performed hundreds of times, yet not everyone will hear a truck's warning signal every time. Ensuring maximum visibility to the back of the vehicle means leaving nothing to chance. Don't be afraid to get out and take a second look if unsure or even ask for help if possible.
