W hen Göran Nyberg, president of sales and marketing for Volvo Trucks, arrived at the company's North American headquarters in Greensboro, N.C., two years ago, he embraced his new role with the same passion and drive he's brought to the wide range of manage- ment positions he's held within the company. Previously, he was the managing director for Volvo Group UK Limited, Volvo Trucks' sales & marketing division in the United Kingdom. His competitive spirit got him through tough economic times in the UK as he steered the company through the Great Recession with painful cost-cutting measures designed to achieve a leaner, more nimble structure. Once the changes were in place, his handpicked management team went on to exceed sales and market share expectations.
