COMMERCIAL CARRIER JOURNAL | DECEMBER 2014 49 NO PASSWORD REQUIRED Carrier: Southern Wine & Spirits of Nevada Graphics designer: Speakeasy Ales & Lagers Graphics producer: Epic Worldwide S peakeasies were a necessity in the Prohibition Era as a place for folks to come together and wet their whistles, even if it wasn't exactly legal. With a nod to bootleggers, fl apper girls and the Roaring Twenties, trailer graphics for San Francisco-based Speakeasy Ales & Lagers harken back to bygone days when beer wasn't easy to fi nd, and if you were lucky enough to get your hands on some, you'd better keep it on the down-low. "We wanted to reinforce our urban brand by wrapping our distributors' delivery trucks with our cast of characters from our packaging designs," says Forest Gray, president and founder of Speakeasy Ales & Lagers. "It's a great extension of our brand identity." Why we liked it: "Speakeasy's trailer caught my attention with its Pro- hibition Era design and minimally styled fi gures. The artwork resembles the tone and styling of prohibition posters of the 1920s, and the minimal use of color allows the name to really stand out from the trailer. Plus, I'm a huge 'Boardwalk Empire' fan. – David Watson, CCJ art director
