FTR says the data shows fleets are preparing for more freight in 2015. Class 8 orders in the last 12 months total 363,000, FTR says. KEEPING REPORTS of no-defect pre- or post-trip inspections is no longer required following a rule that went into effect Dec. 18 after clearing the White House's Office of Management and Budget in early December. FMCSA says the rule will save the trucking industry $1.7 billion annually. ABOUT 100,000 military veterans may find work from American Trucking Associa- tions members as part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Hiring Our Heroes campaign, which has a goal of getting jobs for 500,000 vets. THE TRUCKERS FOR TROOPS campaign by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association raised $52,528. The money was used to send care packages to U.S. military members stationed in combat zones during the holiday season. THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION says it will continue to accept comment on its Comprehen- sive Truck Size and Weight Limits Study to help produce "a high-quality report." The agency was supposed to report study findings to Congress by last month, as required under the 2012 MAP- 21 surface transportation reauthorization.
