involved in the review and permitting of the system. The results gained from the extensive well testing, research and investigation into the concept of low-temperature ge- othermal systems, and input from the developers and design team soon led to the formulation of a revised conceptual design (Figure 3). This concept was used to generate the design parameters, estimated construction costs, payback projections, and operating costs of the system. However, one question remained. How best to incorporate a grounds irrigation system into the geothermal system in a manner that would not compromise the efficiency or operation of the system itself? This was an issue that required extensive thought and input from all parties. We will delve next month into the design assumptions and criteria used for the actual final system design. We'll also discuss the pitfalls encountered dur- ing the design and construction along with the modifications to the design they caused. Until then, work safe and smart. Figure 3.
