32 Oil Prophets making friends and learning from the successes and mistakes of others in the petroleum business have been invaluable. Jim looks forward to serving on the board in the coming year. Jim Sibley Sibley Oil Company Russellville, AL Although Jim Sibley is 3rd generation in the petroleum business, his career path began in an entirely different direction. Jim earned an engineering degree at Auburn University and worked as an engineer at a utility company for 19 years. Sibley Oil Company was started in 1919 by Jim's grandfather, Neal Sibley. Neal worked as a County Agent for Standard Oil Company for 62 years. During that time, he opened WKH¿UVWVHUYLFHVWDWLRQLQWKHFRXQW\LQ 1920. Jim's father, David also worked for Standard Oil Company. When the elder Sibley retired in 1976, David Sibley took over the job as County Agent. He and his wife, also took over Neal Sibley's service station. After the death of David Sibley in 2001, Jim returned home to run the company with his mother. Jim's older brother is a geologist for Chevron in Australia and was not interested in moving home to run the business. And although Jim had a career in engineering, he said, "I just couldn't see a company that old ending." So Jim retired from his job as an engineer in 2002. Weeks after taking over the business, Jim was asked to purchase some nearby stores owned by a friend of his grandfather. Ten years later, Jim opened Legacy Chevron 2010 – which is both a store and a museum – as a tribute to history of his grandfather's business which began in 1919. His daughter, Elizabeth is a freshman at Mississippi State University, and his son, Nicholas is senior at the University of North Alabama. To stay healthy, Jim spends much time running or walking. He enjoys playing golf and hunting but says, "I mostly work. I think about golf and hunting and my goal is to do more of it." Jim joined P&CMA in 2002 when began running Sibley Oil Company. Knowing the value of membership in the association, Jim became more involved in the last 5 years. He believes meeting with his peers has been very important. He says Meet Your New Board Members
