NGWA's Marketing Director Earns CAE Designation David Evener, NGWA's marketing director, has earned the Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives. The CAE is the highest professional credential in the association industry. The CAE designation is designed to elevate professional standards, enhance individual performance, and identify asso- ciation professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essen- tial to the practice of association management. Founded in 1960, the CAE Program stands as a mark of excellence and has evolved to reflect what it takes to manage an association in today's challenging climate. To be designated as a CAE, an applicant must have a minimum of three years' experience with nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of special- ized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management, and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. NGWA CEO Kevin McCray, himself a CAE, says, "Commitment to our membership is found among all of the NGWA staff, spotlighted by those who, like Dave Evener, have taken things a step further in advancing their professional knowledge, such as NGWA CFO and Vice President of Operations Paul Humes, CPA, and NGWA Professional Development Director Kathy Butcher, who holds a Certified Meeting Planner designation." Prior to Evener taking on the marketing director position in July 2010, he served as NGWA's director of information sys- tems for 13 years. He holds a bachelor's degree in computer information systems from Chapman University, and masters' degrees in information systems management and business ad- ministration from Keller University. Evener is a member of both ASAE and the Ohio Society of Association Executives. NGWA Adds 205 Members in December NGWA added 205 new members in December 2014.
