Pete Smith T his will be my last article as President of the IDA. I have served on this Board in diff erent capacities over 10 years, and it has been a pleasure working with the rest of the IDA Directors. It would be diffi cult to describe all one gains from serving on the Board of Direc- tors, especially considering the demands are minimal with only two meetings a year. Let me encourage any of you who would consider joining the group to nominate yourself for the upcoming two-year term, 2015-16. Presently, positions open are for Regular members in the North American and South American Regions and Associate Members from the North American Region. e entire IDA Board is listed on the website and in the bi-monthly magazines. I, or any of the gentlemen listed, would be happy to discuss board service with you and answer any questions. I would like to see every active IDA member company represented at the Miami conven- tion October 14-17. ere is nothing quite like the oppor- Dear IDA Members, tunity to meet face to face with the decision makers in your industry. It is the best time to learn in seminars and from each other and to make new business opportunities. For some of you that have been at this a while, it can be affi rming that you have done some things right and built your niche in the industry, and it is time to support others who are newer to the industry or just new to the Independent Distributors Association. Last, and equally as impor- tant, you need to make time to have fun: laugh with friends, enjoy a round of golf, and dance. For those of you who do not golf, there is a great boat tour available to all attendees. You can relax, enjoy the water in an air-conditioned glassed-in cabin and a erwards take in some of the culture in the art district at lunch. If you have not partaken of the Miami nightlife, then you have missed out. Should you have questions, the IDA staff is anxious to be of assistance: 972-241-1124. e past two years serving as president of IDA is closing to the end of my term. I look back to the wonderful annual conventions all of our members enjoyed, the new faces and the old faces of IDA members young and experenced. IDA has very good offi cers and Board of Directors to serve our association. Even with these turbulent fi nancial times as we have seen with our own compa- nies, as well as the roller coaster Stock Market, the IDA Board and Investment Committee have produced a successful gain increase for the association. I, along with my family, will always be available for any IDA needs and service for our wonderful membership.
