The company will serve vineyards throughout the Santa Barbara County winegrowing region and will practice sustainable, organic and Biodynamic farming methods. Colin Baker Joins Euro Machines Euro Machines of Fairfield, Calif., has hired Colin Baker as a sales and service manager. He will work with Rick Austin to support Euro Machines' Central Coast customers. Baker, who has worked in the wine industry for the last 10 years, has held positions including cellar master, facilities manager and assistant winemaker. Robert Larsen Opens The Larsen Projekt Longtime communications profes- sional Robert Larsen recently left his director of communications post at Rodney Strong Wine Estates to open his own business, The Larsen Projekt. The Santa Rosa, Calif.-based company will offer a variety of ser- vices, including public relations, social media, experiential marketing, event consulting and graphic design for the wine, food, travel, lifestyle and adult beverage industries. COMPANY NEWS AgroThermal Systems Makes New Zealand Debut AgroThermal Systems of Walnut Creek, Calif., recently introduced New Zealand wineries and winegrape growers to Thermaculture, a crop management process that uses heat treatments directly applied to crops from a tractor-pulled machine. Benefits include improved fruit set, greater harvest yields, sustainable pest control and improved wine quality. Vintage Nurseries Invests in New Greenhouse Vintage Nurseries of Wasco, Calif., has begun construc- tion on a new $25 million greenhouse complex. The facility will have a 4 million-vine capacity per pass, with approximately 2-million-vine capacity ready for the 2016 season. Ultimately the facility will house approximately 8 million vines per season. Reorg for Vineyard Professional Services Vineyard Professional Services Inc. (VPS), in Paso Robles, Calif., has transitioned to a new operational management team. Randy Heinzen (formerly VP of operations) is now chief operating officer, and Lisa Hurdle (formerly the CFO) was promoted to VP of finance. Dean Harrell remains VP of viticul- ture. VPS Owner John Crossland retains the title of president, CEO. Promotions at Summit Engineering Summit Engineer- ing Inc. of Santa Rosa, Calif., recently promot- ed three employees to associate level in the water/wastewater and civil divisions. Demae Rubins and Tania Sch- ram have been named associates in Summit's civil division. Gina Gia- cone has been named an associate at Summit Engineering, where she is responsible for managing water/wastewater projects. Smurfit Kappa Nominated for PPI Awards Dublin-based Smurfit Kappa received eight nominations across six categories in the 2015 Pulp & Paper International (PPI) Awards for its commitment to sustainability, innovation and leadership. Syngenta Receives EPA Registration Greensboro, N.C.-based Syngenta has received registration from the U.S. Environ- mental Protection Agency for Solatenol, its newest succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor (SDHI) fungicide. Tapp Label Breaks Ground in Paso Robles Tapp Label Company of Napa, Calif., has announced that it will open a new, state-of- the-art printing facility in Paso Robles to meet the label printing needs of California's Central Coast. The facility, slated to open this winter, will provide Central Coast wineries, food pro- ducers and other companies with on-demand creative support. Demae Rubins
