Cameras no substitute for mirrors, FMCSA says
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration denied an exemption
request from Atwood Forest Products
to install camera systems at the sides
and rear of its 15 trucks in place of
rearview mirrors.
Atwood provided no evidence that
the cameras would provide at least
as much safety as mirrors do, said
FMCSA.
The Federal Motor Carrier
Safety Regulations require all
trucks to be equipped with a
rearview mirror on each side.
