you are doing are making the rules of business you must work under. It isn't fair but it is the reality of the world we are in. As we roll out CargoShield and LoadPay this quarter we are very excited because both of these services have the ability to help you be more successful and spend more of your time making money instead of chasing it. We are watching the ELD mandate very closely and think that aer eight years we are nally close to an aordable solution to the mandate that can be bundled with your Truckstop.com Pro service. As these government mandates come, don't give up on the industry. Don't let them wear you out like they did to my son. Help nd the ways to make a bad situation good. It won't be easy, although we will try to make the best tools possible to help cope with the realities we work in, but I guarantee it will be worth it! 2016 is going to be a remarkable year in transportation and I am very much looking forward to it! FROM THE DESK OF SCOTT Scott Moscrip, CEO M any of us have things that we love to do in life. For example, I love to create applications and processes that help my customers to be successful. It really makes me feel good inside. Sometimes in life we have external forces that push us o of those things we prefer to do and can even make us stop doing them. My son, Adam, recently went through an experience like this and it taught me a valuable lesson. Adam loves to play basketball but doesn't like to play football, but because we are in a very small school district and because I am a "good" parent, Adam was "encouraged" to play football. He has Asperger's syndrome and football is really good for his brain because there are a lot of chaotic moving parts and not everyone does what they should on every play. He isn't the best football player and so the coaches rarely played him. is was very dicult for him mentally because he was no worse than anyone else out on the eld and it frustrated him that he was unable to contribute meaningfully to his team. When basketball season started, there were a lot of kids that came out for basketball this year unlike last year when there were barely enough kids to play in all the games. During tryouts, Adam worked really hard and made the team but would have a similar role to what he had in football. Mentally, he couldn't take that. Basketball was his passion, but an external force, football, had External Forces Key Issues in the trucking Industry drained him mentally so much that he couldn't bring himself to contribute to the team by being a benchwarmer and practice player. Now, before anyone thinks this story is sad, let me tell you all the good things that have happened because of this. Instead of being at basketball practice each day, Adam is now working at the oce aer school. He loves sales (we don't know where that gene came from) and he is playing on a dierent team (the sales team) and loving it. So if you get a call aer school hours at your oce from a young sales guy at Truckstop.com, give him an attaboy! It will make his day. So how does this relate to trucking and transportation? We all have our passions in this business but we also all have external forces. Don't let those external forces mentally drain you to the point of quitting. ere are many pressures being put on your business. No business is immune, not even Truckstop.com! I read an article that summed up what the competition looked like by saying there are 300 government agencies nding ways to tell you that you are wrong but there is really only one way to do it right. We are working diligently to help get you the tools and the skills you need to survive in a world where people who don't understand what 4 IT MAGAZINE Vo l . 1 0 , N o . 1
