26 Oil Prophets Meet Your New Board Members Karen Suggs has been an active member of P&CMA since 2007 – attending, sponsoring, and helping at events. This year we are pleased to have her serve on the associate board of directors. Karen Suggs S&ME (QORE) Karen holds a BS in Geological Sciences and a Master's of Science with a focus in Environmental Geochemistry from the University of Alabama. She was hired by S&ME (QORE) as geologist in 2005. S&ME is an engineering, design, planning, environmental and construction services business, operating from 35 offices across the US. Karen works from the Huntsville office. Karen and her husband, Jason live on an 80-acre cattle farm in northeast Alabama where they are raising their one-year old son, Eli. Karen spends her free time outdoors where she enjoys outdoor photography and fishing. Being involved in P&CMA has been important to Karen. "P&CMA has allowed me to make new friends in the industry. I love the values of all the members in the association. I look forward to the inspiration I receive each year from the prayer breakfasts at the annual convention." She appreciates the P&CMA for keeping her up-to-date on the regulations and allowing her to make new business acquaintances. Karen looks forward to serving on the associate board of directors and is committed to serving the members of P&CMA to the best of her ability. Geoff Smith served as President of the Associate Board in 2014 and returns to the associate board of directors again this year. Geoff is the owner of Oil Equipment Company. He began his career at Oil Equipment Company in 1987 after graduating from The University of Alabama. Although he was hoping for a sales position, he was offered a job in construction at Oil Equipment Company. This gave Geoff an opportunity to learn the business from the construction side. Geoff had the opportunity to purchase the company in 2007. Oil Equipment Company is a General Contractor that specializes in the design and Geoff Smith Oil Equipment Company construction of convenience stores and gasoline stations. They are also a Gilbarco distributor. The company is located in Trussville and has 35 dedicated employees. Geoff and his wife, Marla, have a 20 year-old son McRae, and a 16 year-old daughter, Emilee Claire. The family enjoys spending time at the beach, watching football, and simply being together. Geoff's first memory of the P&CMA was attending the tradeshow and convention in 1988. He has been involved with the association ever since. Geoff says, "the P&CMA means a lot to our business. I think the main reason it helps us is the relationships we have built over the years and the opportunity to build new relationships going forward. These relationships have led us to new opportunities." Geoff's goal for the associate board this year is to continue support of the educational foundation draw- down. "We need to continue to sell all our tickets and make sure the foundations remains financially strong." He also hopes to help promote membership growth. on providing business and personal financial services through competitive products and state-of-the-art technology. Stephen and his wife, Allison, have a four year-old daughter named Brooke Ann. They are very active at Mountain Brook Community Church. Stephen enjoys hunting "almost anything" and he also enjoys playing golf. Stephen believes that the P&CMA has provided him with the opportunity to build relationships "with some really great people who are now good friends and loyal customers." In 2016, Stephen would like to see growth in P&CMA membership. He is also committed to helping the associate board sell all of the Scholarship foundation raffle tickets so that the P&CMA Scholarship Program is stronger than ever.
