ISTORIC CEDARBURG,
just 20 minutes north
of Milwaukee, kicks off the
2016 festival season with the
perfect antidote for cabin fe-
ver – the 42nd Annual Winter
Festival.
This year's theme for the
popular festival, Saturday,
Feb. 20 and Sunday, Feb. 21,
is "Cedarburg Salutes Amer-
ica." Festivities take place
8am-10pm Saturday and
8am-4pm Sunday.
Visitors can hop aboard
the tractor-drawn hay wagon
to view the spectacular ice
carving contest entries along
Washington Avenue. On the
active side, old-fashioned
"snow competitions" are
waged by registered teams

catch the Co-ed Sno-Ball
Tournament and the Cedar
-
burg Lions Ice-Burg Open
Golf Tournament. This year
there is a new competition on
Sunday – a Snow Bowling
Tournament held outside at
the City Hall Lawn.
Two chili contests heat up
the scene Saturday at the
Cedarburg Community Cen-
ter, W63 N641 Washington
Ave. During the Individual
Chili Competition, audience
members can win free prizes.
Those attending the Restau-
rant Chili Contest can buy a
chili sampler platter and vote
for their favorite entries (11am-
4pm).
The Grand Parade is at
1pm Saturday, with themed
bed racing teams as well as
other fun participants. The
parade heads down Wash

ington Avenue to the frozen
millpond of Cedar Creek for
the start of the Costumed
Bed Racing Competition at
1:30pm. Next are the Barrel
Races on Ice at 2pm. After
