Portability. Smaller, fabricated metal systems are moveable, should the winery need to recon- figure its processing layout or change locations. LARGEST LYVE AT TRINCHERO With a design capacity of 200,000 gpd, the largest Lyve wastewater system built to date began operation in 2011 at Trin- chero Family Estates (TFE) in St. Helena, Calif. August designed the system and supervised the onsite construction of the concrete struc- ture, poured in place, with a total footprint of 110 feet by 60 feet (6,600 square feet). The height of the structure is 16 feet, with oper- ating depths for the aeration basins of 14 feet. TFE facility maintenance super- visor David Sneed said the Lyve system fits in with the company's sustainability initiatives by reducing environmental impacts and costs compared with the four wastewa- ter ponds (also called facultative lagoons) that the facility's produc- tion capacity had outgrown. Each 1-million-gallon capac- ity wastewater pond operated with three aerators running 24/7, which consumed significant electric- ity. Since the Lyve system became operational, nine aerators have been turned off for three ponds that now store processed water for irrigation and reuse.
