AGGREGATES MANAGER / May 2017 31 EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT of these advances are aimed at improv- ing the operator experience and mak- ing operation more productive and safe. New monitors and rear- and side-view cameras give operators excellent visibility around all sides of the machine, helping to increase awareness of the surrounding environment and prevent collisions with trucks, equipment, or structures. Collision detection systems are also gaining in popularity because they "see" what even cameras don't show the oper- ator. These solutions use radar technol- ogy to detect objects, either stationary or approaching the machine, that may im- pact — allowing the operator to react in time to avoid collision. It's also worth noting that manufactur- ers are continually evolving lighting pack- ages with the latest in LED technology to illuminate all sides of the machine, further improving safety and visibility. When taken cumulatively, these ad- vances are all practical, easy to imple- ment, and can have a far-reaching effect on productivity, effi ciency, and safety. AM Brad Stemper is product manager; Andrew Dargatz is brand market- ing manager; and Justin Conder is CE product specialist for Case Construction Equipment. Simple machine guidance systems can guide operators to specific depths, allowing them to work faster and with greater accuracy. css-soucy-ad 7.indd 1 3/8/17 3:51 PM
